A failure of a singular hydraulic RAM caused major structural damage to the steel work frame which acted as foundation anchoring which included 11 other rams. The single failure caused visible cover damage to the surrounding concrete and supporting framework which the client wanted to have fully inspected to find the extent of the damage to the hydraulic system.
Sabre Jetting Services visited site at the request of the client to view the potential concrete removal required for an inspection to be carried out as to whether a local repair or complete re-install of the system would be a requirement. The area of work was situated inside a building which had a small area available for our jetting team to build a small lightweight frame encapsulated with debris netting.
Isolations to all internal electrics included scanning of the concrete floor to ensure there were no live services present.
The volume of concrete to be removed totalled 2.5m3 and had a final depth of 1.1m to expose all associated framework anchoring the hydraulic ram.
The team had an area of 1.5m x 1.5m x 1.1m area sawcut prior to arrival.
Jetting commenced in 275mm depth intervals. The team briefly stopped to allow labour to remove the debris before starting another 275mm. The final depth was reached in 4 stages of 275mm to get to 1.1m.
Due to the nature of the site, water disposal options were not available therefore had to be disposed off site. Prior to disposal, Sabre Jetting Services set up pumps linked directly to one of our Siltbuster HD units which treated the used water back to within pH 7-9 and reduced suspended solids to within 100mg/l.
A 14,0000L waste water carrier tanker disposed of the treated water off site.
The Hydrodemolition works took 5 shifts to complete.
